In 1955, when the song came out, four of my siblings were teenagers in the throes of what would become a lifelong adoration of rockers like Berry, Jerry Lee Lewis, and Fats Domino\u2014all of whom they savored at Jackhammer decibels.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">A song can become synonymous with a moment in our lives; the memory becomes inseparable from the tune. That\u2019s what happened for me with \u201cMaybellene,\u201d when it was the backdrop for a nightmarish ride in a \u201956 Chevy with a drunk driver at the wheel.
