Mary Ann in Short

Mary Ann McGuigan’s short stories and creative nonfiction are published widely in literary journals, including The Sun, Massachusetts Review, The Rumpus, SmokeLong, Brevity, and many others. Her collection Pieces includes fiction named for the Pushcart Prize and Sundress Publications’ Best of the Net. That Very Place, her new collection, published by Unsolicited Press, reaches bookstores on September 9, 2025. She has served on the panel of judges for the National Book Award for Young People’s Literature. Mary Ann taught English for nearly a decade and was a business and finance editor at Bloomberg L.P. A native of Bronx, New York, she grew up there and in Jersey City. She lives Metuchen, not far from her two handsome grandsons.
