Gratitude is a lovely tradition. It’s so easy to take what we have for granted. It’s a bad habit of mine, maybe my way of giving the finger to the past.
But when the table is beautifully prepared and the plates are full, there’s always a moment when I’m reminded that abundance is not something we can count on. Times change. Often for the better. So I offer this simple essay as a way to give thanks for that.
“Daily Bread” is a memory of how difficult it can be to see that the world is not as hard on others.
