The KCMO Public library <\/a>was the master minds behind the day I got to talk to George R.R. Martin<\/a>. And, now the Johnson County Library<\/a> is hosting another<\/em> FREE writers conference<\/a>. I attended the conference last year and participated in one of the critique sessions.\u00a0 I took the opening chapter of The Color Eater<\/em> and ran it through one more round of edits, based upon the fresh eyes and feed-back of writers attending the conference.\u00a0 I know they helped me make the opening even stronger, which captivated Lucy, and ultimately led to my signing with Kneerim & Williams.<\/p>\n

This year I was asked to sit on the First Page Reads<\/em> panels, and I gladly agreed.\u00a0 For those of you who haven’t been to a First Page Reads <\/em>panel, people submit the first page of their work.\u00a0 The page is read out loud to the room, and a panel (of editors, agents, or other literary professionals) offers feedback on what they heard and insight into if they would keep reading.<\/p>\n

Join me on either Friday, November 3rd,\u00a0 from 4:00 p.m. \u2013 4:45 p.m., or Saturday, November 4th, from 3:00 p.m.\u2013 3:45 p.m. for the educational and entertaining workshops. If you hope to have your first page read in a session, be sure to register now.<\/p>\n
