And, oh yeah\u2026 she happens to live in Australia.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>We found each other through&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.ya4ya.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">YA4YA.<\/a>&nbsp;Paula was my mentee and I asked her, \u201cHey, would you mind participating in this pilot program I\u2019m working on?\u201d Paula generously agreed, and we started working together in November of 2018.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>I had a great time doing a\u00a0comprehensive edit<a href=\"https:\/\/yayserver.com\/jessicaconoley\/work-with-me\/\">\u00a0<\/a>on\u00a0<em><a href=\"https:\/\/paulagleeson.com\/manuscripts\/wips\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Finding Snow,<\/a>\u00a0<\/em>her YA historical fantasy retelling of Snow White. (Did you know Snow White is based on a real person? Yeah, me neither\u2013until I met Paula!) And over the next four months we worked through the group sessions together on things like: building author websites, revisions, and the agent\/author relationship.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>After class formally came to an end, Paula &amp; I kept working together. We did a few one-on-one coaching sessions when she got her first agent offer. That session led to her eliciting a competing agent offer, and then we walked through the contract process.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>Here\u2019s Paula celebrating right after she signed her agency contract.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Paula worked her tail off the whole time I\u2019ve known her, and I am continually astounded by her work ethic, creativity, and ability to put a smile on my face. I am so proud of and happy for her, and I was lucky enough to meet Paula face-to-face when I went to Australia in August of 2019!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>My favorite part about working with Paula is she inspires me to dream bigger and work harder.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3>Paula on working with Jessica:<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote\"><p>\u201cJessica is such an incredible mentor and coach. It is&nbsp;<em>Outlander&nbsp;<\/em>meets&nbsp;<em>Snow White&nbsp;<\/em>and tells the story of an isolated Australian country girl who is thrust back in time where she meets the real-life inspiration for the Brother\u2019s Grimm tale: Snow White.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Her Olympic documentary&nbsp;<em>A Sporting Chance<\/em>&nbsp;won the&nbsp;highest honour at the&nbsp;Federation Internationale Cinema Television Sportifs (FICTS) Festival in Milan. Beyond this,&nbsp;she has written articles for both print and online publications.
